Geboren in Houston, Texas am 8. Januar 1941, gestorben am 11. November 2025 in ihrem Haus in Californien, USA. Ich kenne Patricia Cane durch Simone Wald, eine vormalige Teilnehmerin des IHP. Sie hat 2024 bei Anke Reermann, der deutschen Repräsentantin von Pats weltweitem Counseling System „Capacitar“ diesen wunderbaren Embodiment Ansatz kennen und schätzen gelernt; und sie hat mir über Anke Reermann direkten Zugang zum letzten Capacitar Training verschafft, welches Pat an der Aachener Katholischen Hochschule im Jahr 2024 gegeben hat. Ich habe sie dort an der KaTHo noch persönlich kennen gelernt, und wir haben beschlossen, in Zukunft miteinander zu kooperieren. Pat hat dieses System bereits 1988 als gemeinnützigen Verein gegründet und mit steigender Anzahl von Unterstützern in die ganze Welt hinaus getragen. Als sie im vergangenen Jahr aus Japan von dortigen Trainings zurückkehrte, verstarb sie am darauf folgenden Tag ganz plötzlich. Seit 2011 war sie nach der Nuklear Katastrophe von Fukushima regelmäßig in Japan, um den Überlebenden dieser Katastrophe ihre Unterstützung zukommen zu lassen. So ist dort neben Ruanda, Irland, Indonesien, Guatemala und 45 anderen Ländern in Amerika, Afrika, Asien und Europa eine weitere Capacitar Gemeinschaft durch Pat Cane entstanden.

Coming back from Japan where she taught her system to the Capacitar Community of Japan, Pat arrived at her California home on November 10^th 2025. She was born in Houston, Texas on January 8th in 1941, and she died November 11^th 2025 in her home, certainly having dreamt of the wonderful trip to Japan. Since 2011 she more or less had been regularly in Japan on behalf of giving support to the survivors of the nuclear catastrophy of Fukushima. It was another Capacitar Community besides those in Ruanda, Irland, Indonesia, Guatemala, and in 45 countries in the Americas, Africa, Asia and Europe. (www.capacitar.org)

1988 she founded the Capacitar System as benevolent institution, derived from her own body & community work with Tai Chi, Akupressure work etc. Since Capacitars beginning she served as International trainer and Executive Director. Her global calling is similar to Humanistic Psychology’s “healing ourselves, healing our world” motto. Since founding Capacitar she’s been using her project of empowerment and solidarity – world wide. She holds a B.A. in Biology and has successfully studied for an M.A. degree in Psychology at Santa Clara University, while leading the counseling department at Santa Jose. When Capacitar started to grow in the 1990s, she decided to grow too and earned a doctorate in Multicultural Wellness Education.

Sie hat einen B.A. Titel in Biologie und anschließend an der Santa Clara Universität ihren M.A. in Psychologie gemacht während sie in Santa Jose die Counseling Abteilung leitete. Als dann in 1990 Capacitar immer größer und bekannter wurde, da entschloss sie sich in Multikultureller Wellness Erziehung zu promovieren. Als Dr. Patricia Cane hat sie damit begonnen, die Capacitar Methoden zu unterrichten. Der Name Capacitar steht für „Aufwecken, Mut machen und Menschen zusammen bringen“, dies ganz besonders in Kriegs-Gebieten und wenn Gewalt, Armut und Katastrophen vorherrschen. Ziel ist also nicht die Beseitigung von Krankheit sondern Gesundheit und Resilienz mittels traditionellen und indigenen Wissens zu entwickeln.

As Dr. Patricia Cane she has made use of a popular education approach, teaching simple healing practices to empower as many people as possible, especially those living in places of war, violence, poverty and disaster. The name Capacitar means to awaken, to encourage and to bring each other to life. The focus of Capacitar is not to get rid of illness but to foster the development of health and resilience. Capacitar connects traditional and indigenous knowledge.

Ich bin glücklich, diese wunderbare “Gesundheits Königin” ca. ein halbes Jahr nach meinem 81. Geburtstag an der Katholischen Hochschule in Aachen getroffen zu haben, jener Schule, an der ich vor Gründung des IHP (1972) selbst einen Lehrauftrag für Konflikt-Management innehatte. Diese Ehrung zweisprachig vorzunehmen ist als symbolischer Akt zu verstehen, zu dem ich mich entschlossen habe, weil auch Anke Reermann in ihrer Zusammenarbeit mit Pat die Capacitar Anleitungen ebenfalls zweisprachig gibt.

I met this wonderful Queen of Health via a student of hers, Mrs. Simone Wald who is also a former student of IHP, the German Institute of Humanistic Psychology. She was taking Capacitar lectures in 2024, and I asked her to make contact with Mrs. Anke Reermann, the local representative and trainer of this system. Thus I got personal contact to Pamela Cane and met her last year at the local training group of KaTHo, the catholic university of Aachen. Since then I have been fascinated by her, and I appreciate her work deeply. God bless her.
